Let's create! Newman Library's new Prototyping Studio opens

November 17, 2021 -- A slight buzz from a vacuum former or flash from a laser cutter may be unusual to see and hear in a traditional library, but not at Virginia Tech. This fall, a new Prototyping Studio opened in a large space on the fourth floor of Newman Library. Hokies can invent, design, and prototype all in one place. This technology-packed space is the brainchild of University Libraries team members Max Ofsa, Jonathan Bradley, Patrick Tomlin, Scott Fralin, and Sara Sweeney-Bear.

White Bear Lake High School to Break Ground

St. Paul, Minn. – August 10, 2021 – Wold Architects and Engineers, a Saint Paul-based architectural and engineering firm with education design expertise, today announced the start of construction on White Bear Lake High School in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. White Bear Lake High School is one of five local schools breaking ground in 2021 that the firm has designed in response to the needs of local students and communities. The other high schools include Mora (Mora, Minn.), Owatonna (Owatonna, Minn.), Tartan and North (Oakdale, Minn).

Tomball ISD Celebrates Completion of New Stadium and Junior High School

Houston, TX Grand Lakes Junior High School and Tomball ISD Stadium are two of the biggest projects of a $275 million bond program that voters approved in November 2017 to accommodate its rapid growth (student enrollment increased from 16,000 in 2018-19 school year to 19,500 in 2021). Built on a greenfield site in May 2019. PBK Architects served as the design architect and Gilbane Building Company served as the contractor.

Stantec awarded design services for three education bond programs in the U.S.

Stantec has been selected to provide design and engineering services for three k-12 district bond programs in San Antonio; Bastrop, Texas; and Caledonia, Michigan. With construction costs totaling an estimated US$260 million, these projects include facility renovations and expansions, technology upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to offer more modern educational and recreational spaces for the students of these communities. read more...
